More than just marks

There was a time when I felt like I understood a lot of things. I had an opinion on everything. But right now, at this time in my life, I don't know anything. That's what this new work is about. It could be nothing. It could be everything I have ever known. But I can assure you - I am absolutely certain - that it's more than just marks on canvas.

The Most Important Question

The most important question is 'why?' We demand answers from other people, but rarely from ourselves. When we do ask "why?" of our own thoughts or behaviors, we tend to answer dishonestly. Or we don't answer fully. Why do we fear understanding ourselves? Why do we roll our eyes at children who ask a constant string of 'why's'? Why wouldn't we try to answer them instead of repeating 'just because'? Maybe they are just trying to get to the bottom of things. Why would we try to break their habit so young?
